The ACIES is the central annual ceremony of the Legion of Mary, representing an army in battle array, which has been held since the organization's inception in Dublin, Ireland, in 1921. The first ACIES of the Legion of Mary was held on March 29, 1931, which was ten years after the organization was founded in Dublin, Ireland. It serves as a solemn, mandatory gathering held around the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25) for members to renew their fealty to Jesus through Mary and gain spiritual strength.

ACIES is a Latin term for an army in battle formation, highlighting the spiritual warfare aspect of the Legion's mission.

The ceremony is the "function" of the Legion, a moment for all members to gather, renew their individual and collective dedication to Jesus through Mary, and gain strength to continue their apostolic work. It represents the total, united, and public affirmation of the legionary’s devotion to the Virgin Mary.

Each year the Legion of Mary members prepare for this renewal using the method recommended by St. Louis Marie de Montfort.
